How to Delete a File or Folder in DirectAdmin?

Deleting files or folders in DirectAdmin is a simple process. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you remove unwanted files or folders from your hosting account using the DirectAdmin control panel.

Step 1: Log in to DirectAdmin

1. Access the DirectAdmin Login Page:

Open your web browser and navigate to your DirectAdmin login page. This is typically something like http://yourdomain.com:2222 or a similar URL provided by your cloud hosting provider.

Enter Your Credentials:

Enter your DirectAdmin username and password.

Click Login to access your DirectAdmin account.

Step 2: Navigate to the File Manager

1. Locate the File Manager:

After logging in, find and click on the File Manager icon or link. This is usually found in the System Info & Files section on the main page of DirectAdmin.

2. Open the File Manager:

Clicking on the File Manager will open a new interface where you can manage your files and folders.

Step 3: Browse to the Desired File or Folder

1. Navigate to the Correct Directory:

Use the directory structure on the left side of the File Manager to navigate to the folder containing the file or folder you want to delete. Click on folders to expand them and access their contents.

2. Select the File or Folder:

Once you’re in the correct directory, locate the file or folder you want to delete. You can click on the name to select it.

Step 4: Delete the File or Folder

1. Choose the Delete Option:

With the file or folder selected, look for the Delete button. This is usually represented by a trash can icon or labeled as Delete.

2. Confirm the Deletion:

- After clicking Delete, you will be asked to confirm your action. A dialog box or prompt will appear asking if you are sure you want to delete the selected file or folder.

- Click Yes, Confirm, or OK to proceed with the deletion.

- Warning: Deleting a file or folder is permanent and cannot be undone through DirectAdmin. Ensure that you are deleting the correct item.

Step 5: Verify Deletion

1. Check the Directory:

After confirming the deletion, the file or folder should no longer appear in the directory. You can refresh the directory to ensure it has been removed.

2. Check the Trash (Optional):

Some hosting environments may have a trash or recycle bin feature where deleted items are stored temporarily. Check if your DirectAdmin environment has this feature if you need to restore a deleted item.

Step 6: Log Out (Optional)

Log Out from DirectAdmin:

When you are done managing your files, it’s a good practice to log out from DirectAdmin by clicking the Logout button, usually located in the top right corner.
