Server colocation is a hosting model in which you own the servers, storage and network equipment, and a data center provider houses them in a purpose-built facility. The provider supplies rack space, redundant power, precision cooling, physical security and network connectivity. You keep root-level control of everything that runs on the hardware.
It sits between two familiar options. An on-premises server room gives you control, but you carry the capital cost of backup power, cooling and security. Public cloud removes the hardware, and with it much of the control. Colocation hosting gives you the control of the first and the facility-grade resilience of a data center.

| Metric | Figure | What it means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| Uptime target | 99.99% | Roughly 52 minutes of permitted downtime a year (0.01% of 8,760 hours). |
| Rack capacity, Noida | 500+ rack spaces | Two floors of the Noida data center are dedicated to colocation and hosting. |
| Data center locations | 3 | Noida, Jaipur and Raipur, which supports multi-site disaster recovery. |
| Entry plan | 1U | One rack unit is 1.75 inches (44.45 mm) of vertical space. |
| Largest standard plan | 10U | Up to 5 servers, with 300 GB data transfer included. |
| Power and cooling design | N+1 and 2N | One spare component per system (N+1), or fully mirrored paths (2N). |
The right colocation server hosting format depends on how much hardware you run and how tightly you need to control physical access. Cyfuture Cloud offers eight colocation plans, from a single 1U server to private and hybrid deployments. Starting prices for shared rack plans are in the table below.
Rent one rack unit for a single server. It is the lowest-commitment way to move hardware into a Tier III facility, and it suits an application server, an edge node or a secondary disaster recovery system.
Two rack units for a larger single server or a pair of 1U servers, a common starting point for a small web or database tier.
Four rack units for multi-drive storage servers or up to four 1U nodes, with headroom to grow before you need a rack of your own.
Dedicated rack space for small clusters that have outgrown individual rack units. A standard full rack is 42U, so a quarter rack is roughly 10U.
Private rack space with separate front and rear access and primary and backup power feeds. A half rack gives you roughly double the space of a quarter rack, and an optional combination lock adds a layer of access control.
A full-height rack for dense deployments, available as a closed four-post cabinet in depths from 36 to 42 inches. Choose it when your deployment has outgrown shared units.
A dedicated cage sized by square footage, with its own access control system. Private colocation suits organisations that must restrict physical entry to named personnel, and it avoids the cost of building a private facility.
Keep steady workloads on your own colocated hardware and connect them to cloud hosting or dedicated servers for bursty or elastic capacity, so each workload runs where it fits best.
| Metric / Feature | Value Series | Professional Series | Enterprise Series |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $52.70/month | $100.18/month | $210.97/month |
| Rack space | 1U | 5U | 10U |
| Data transfer | 100 GB | 200 GB | 300 GB |
| IP addresses | 2 | 4 | 4 |
| Servers | 1 | Up to 2 | Up to 5 |
| Set-up | Free | Free | Free |
Per rack unit, the Professional plan works out to about $20.04 and the Enterprise plan to about $21.10, against $52.70 for a single 1U. If you plan to grow, starting above 1U can lower your cost per unit. Cabinets, half racks and cages are quoted to your power, bandwidth and space requirements.
A colocation hosting server is only as dependable as the systems around it. Cyfuture Cloud designs each layer so a single component failure does not take your load offline.
N+1 means one spare unit beyond the capacity required. 2N means two independent, fully mirrored paths. Redundant power feeds, UPS systems and backup generators keep servers running through a utility failure.
Dedicated climate control holds inlet temperatures steady, and N+1 cooling redundancy means one failed unit does not raise temperatures around your equipment.
Carrier-neutral data centers let you choose from multiple network providers rather than depend on a single ISP. Dedicated bandwidth and IP addresses are available, and a complimentary firewall with customisable policies monitors inbound and outbound traffic. DDoS protection is part of the security stack.
Access control: multi-layered entry controls with biometric authentication.
Surveillance: video monitoring and manned security, around the clock.
Fire safety: advanced fire suppression in the data halls.
Facility standards: Tier III design, MeitY empanelment, SOC 1, SOC 2 and SOC 3, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA compliance and CMMI Level 5.
Data residency: servers stay in Indian data centers, which helps BFSI, healthcare and government teams meet data-localisation requirements.
A Tier III facility is designed so any single power or cooling component can be serviced without shutting down the IT load. Certifications cover the facility and our operations. Your own operating system, application and data controls remain your responsibility, so treat compliance as a shared effort and map it with your auditor.
Most colocation customers visit their racks only a few times a year. Day to day, you manage servers remotely while our team handles the physical work:
Reboots and power cycles
Cable checks and re-patching
Hardware replacement and component swaps
Rack-and-stack assistance when you ship equipment to us
Two habits save time in practice. Label every device and cable before shipping, and keep a spare drive and power supply on site so a replacement does not wait on a courier. Our team monitors the facility 24/7 and can assist with troubleshooting at any hour.
| Factor | Server colocation | Public cloud | Dedicated server |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hardware ownership | You own it | Provider owns it | Provider owns it, you rent |
| Cost profile | Upfront hardware, then predictable recurring fees | Pay per use | Fixed monthly rent |
| Scaling | Add units, racks or cages with planning | Near-instant elasticity | Replace or add servers |
| Performance consistency | Dedicated hardware | Varies with shared tenancy | Dedicated hardware |
| Best for | Steady, high-utilisation or custom-hardware workloads | Bursty or experimental workloads | One-off servers without hardware ownership |
When colocation is not the right fit: if your demand is spiky, your team has no hardware capacity, or you run a single small application, cloud hosting or a dedicated server is usually simpler. Many customers combine the two in a hybrid setup.
Banks, insurers, healthcare providers and government bodies often need their own hardware in a certified facility within India. Colocation provides that without a private data center build.
IT and SaaS companies use colocation hosting for predictable performance, low-latency connectivity and flexible bandwidth.
GPU servers draw far more power per rack than conventional servers, so confirm kilowatts per rack and cooling needs before you commit. For high-density AI infrastructure, see our 10 MW liquid-cooled AI data center or our GPU cloud.
A second site in a different city keeps a copy of your infrastructure running if your primary location fails. Our Noida, Jaipur and Raipur locations make geographically separate disaster recovery practical.
| Location | Key facts |

Server colocation means hosting your own servers in a provider’s data center. The provider supplies space, power, cooling, security and connectivity, and you own and manage the hardware and software.
Plans start at $52.70 per month for 1U, $100.18 for 5U and $210.97 for 10U, with free set-up. Half racks, cabinets and cages are quoted by requirement.
In the cloud you consume virtual resources the provider owns. In colocation you own the physical servers and place them in the provider’s facility. Cloud offers fast elasticity, while colocation offers hardware control and stable long-term costs.
Retail colocation covers small allocations such as a rack unit, half rack or cabinet. Wholesale colocation covers large blocks of space and power, such as private suites. Hyperscale colocation provides very large, high-density capacity for cloud providers.
Yes. A small business can start with one 1U server in a Tier III facility without building a server room or buying a generator, and scale as it grows.
High-density servers need more power and cooling per rack. Share your kilowatt requirements with our team so we can recommend the right setup, including our liquid-cooled AI data center option.
Through multi-layered access controls, biometric authentication, video surveillance, manned security and a private cage option for stricter isolation.
Let’s talk about the future, and make it happen!
