How to Create Email Forwarders in DirectAdmin?

Step-by-Step Guide: Creating Email Forwarders in DirectAdmin

Email forwarders allow you to automatically redirect emails from one address to another without storing them on the server. This guide explains how to set up email forwarders in DirectAdmin.

Step 1: Log in to DirectAdmin

Open your web browser.

Enter your DirectAdmin URL (typically http://yourdomain.com:2222).

Log in with your admin, reseller, or user account credentials.

Step 2: Access Email Forwarders

Once logged in, go to the "E-mail Manager" section in the main menu.

Click on "Forwarders".

Step 3: Add a New Email Forwarder

Click the "Create E-Mail Forwarder" button.

A form will appear where you can set up the forwarder.

Step 4: Enter Forwarder Details

Source Email Address: Enter the email address you want to forward messages from. This can be a specific email (e.g., [email protected]) or a catch-all (e.g., *@yourdomain.com).
Example: [email protected].

Destination Email Address: Enter the address where emails will be forwarded. It can be within the same domain or an external address (e.g., [email protected]).
Example: [email protected].

Step 5: Save the Forwarder

After filling in the source and destination addresses, click Create to save.

The new forwarder will appear in the list on the "Forwarders" page.

Step 6: Test the Forwarder

Send a test email to the source email address.

Ensure that the email is correctly forwarded to the destination address.

Step 7: Edit or Delete Forwarders (Optional)

To edit an existing forwarder, click its name, modify the details, and save.

To delete a forwarder, click Delete next to it and confirm.

Advanced Forwarding Options (Optional)

Forward to Multiple Addresses: To forward emails to several addresses, list them in the destination field, separated by commas.
Example: [email protected], [email protected].

Catch-All Forwarding: To forward all emails sent to your domain, even if the address doesn't exist, use a wildcard (*) for the source email.
Example:

Source: *@yourdomain.com

Destination: [email protected]
