Adding users to a WordPress Multisite involves a few steps, depending on whether you want to add them to the network or to specific sites within the network. Here’s how to do both:
Access Network Admin: Log in to your WordPress dashboard. If you’re using Multisite, you should see "My Sites" in the top left corner. Hover over it and select "Network Admin" > "Dashboard."
Navigate to Users: In the Network Admin dashboard, click on "Users" in the left sidebar.
Add New User: Click the "Add New" button at the top.
Fill in User Details: Enter the user's email address, username, and password.
Optionally, you can check the box to send the user an email about their new account.
Assign Roles: Choose the appropriate role for the user. Common roles are:
Super Admin: Access to all sites and settings.
Administrator: Full control over a specific site.
Editor, Author, Contributor, or Subscriber: Different levels of access to content.
Add User: Click the "Add User" button.
Go to Sites: In the Network Admin dashboard, click on "Sites."
Select a Site: Hover over the site you want to add a user to and click "Users."
Add Existing User: On the Users page for that site, click "Add Existing User."
Search for User: Type in the username or email of the user you want to add.
Assign Role: Select the user’s role for that specific site (Administrator, Editor, Author, etc.).
Add User: Click "Add User" to finish.
If you checked the option to send an email, the user will receive a notification about their new account. If not, you may want to notify them manually.
User Management: You can manage user roles and access through the same "Users" sections in both Network Admin and individual site dashboards.
Super Admin: Be cautious when assigning Super Admin roles as it grants complete control over the entire network.
That’s it! You’ve successfully added users to your WordPress Multisite. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask!
