How to determine the WordPress Version?

To determine the version of WordPress your site is running, you can try the following methods:

Check the Admin Dashboard:

Login to WordPress Admin: Go to your WordPress admin dashboard by visiting http://yoursite.com/wp -admin.

Scroll Down: On the main dashboard page, scroll to the bottom. The WordPress version is typically displayed in the footer.

View the readme.html File:

Access via URL: Visit http://yoursite.com/readme.html. The version number is usually listed at the top of this file.

Note: This method only works if the readme.html file is still present and accessible.

Check the wp-includes/version.php File:

Use FTP or File Manager: Access your WordPress files using FTP or your cloud hosting provider's file manager.

Navigate to wp-includes Folder: Locate and open the wp-includes folder.

Open version.php: Inside the folder, find the version.php file. The version number is stored in a variable called $wp_version.

Using the wp-cli Command Line Tool:

If you have command-line access and wp-cli installed, you can use the following command:
Bash

WordPress Plugin

This will output the current version of WordPress installed on your site.

Using a Plugin:

There are various plugins available that can show you the WordPress version in the admin area. For example, you can use the "Health Check & Troubleshooting" plugin to see detailed site information, including the WordPress plugin version.

Each method provides a straightforward way to find out the version of WordPress running on your site.
