How To Use The Feature Manager In WHM?

The Feature Manager in Web Host Manager (WHM) permits website hosting companies to customise the functions which might be available to customers through their cPanel accounts. This device is critical for developing distinctive website hosting programs and customizing them in line with the needs of your clients. Here's how you can use the Feature Manager in WHM:

Accessing Feature Manager:

Login to WHM: First, log into your WHM account with your root credentials.

Navigate to Feature Manager: In the WHM dashboard, search for “Feature Manager” in the search bar located at the top-left or navigate through: Packages > Feature Manager

Creating a Feature List:

A Feature List is a group of features that you assign to specific cPanel packages.

Create New Feature List:

Enter a name for your feature list in the "Add a new feature list" field.

Click Add.

Modify an Existing Feature List:

Select a previously created list from the dropdown.

Click Edit to modify it.

Configuring Features:

Once you create or select a feature list, you'll be presented with a list of available features that you can enable or disable. These features control what functionalities are accessible to your cPanel users.

Enable Features: Check the boxes next to the features you want to enable for users. Some common features include:

Email Accounts: Allows the users to create email addresses.

FTP Accounts: Allows the users to create and manage FTP accounts.

Subdomains: Enables the users to add subdomains to their hosting account.

File Manager: Provides access to cPanel's file management tool.

Disable Features: Uncheck the boxes next to the features you want to disable.

Save Changes:

After enabling or disabling features as per your requirements, scroll down and click Save to apply the changes.

Assigning Feature Lists to Packages:

Once a feature list is created, it can be assigned to different hosting packages.

Go to Packages: In WHM, navigate to Packages > Edit a Package or Add a Package.

Assign Feature List: Under the Feature List section, select the desired feature list from the dropdown menu.

Save the Package: Save the package with the selected feature list.

Deleting a Feature List:

If you no longer need a feature list, you can delete it.

In the Feature Manager, select the feature list you wish to delete from the dropdown.

Click Delete.

Best Practices:

Tailor Feature Lists: Create different feature lists for various types of hosting plans to offer more control over what users can access.

Security Considerations: Disable features that may not be necessary or may pose security risks, such as shell access or certain advanced tools for beginner users.

By using WHM's Feature Manager, you can effectively control the tools and services available to your cPanel users, offering flexibility and scalability in your hosting environment.
