Suspending and unsuspending accounts in WHM (Web Host Manager) is a common task for web hosting administrators. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do both:
Log in to WHM:
Access WHM by going to http://yourserverip:2087 or https://yourserverip:2087.
Enter your WHM username and password to log in.
Find the Account:
In the WHM interface, go to the Account Functions section in the left sidebar.
Click on Suspend/Unsuspend an Account.
Select the Account to Suspend:
From the drop-down menu, select the account you want to suspend.
You can also use the Search function to find the account by domain or username.
Suspend the Account:
Click the Suspend button.
Confirm the suspension if prompted. This will disable the account, preventing the user from accessing their site or email.
Check Suspension Status:
Ensure that the account status is now listed as suspended on the same page.
Log in to WHM:
Access WHM as described above.
Find the Account:
Navigate to the Account Functions section.
Click on Suspend/Unsuspend an Account.
Select the Account to Unsuspend:
From the drop-down menu, select the account you wish to unsuspend.
Use the Search function if needed.
Unsuspend the Account:
Click the Unsuspend button.
Confirm the unsuspension if prompted. This will reactivate the account, allowing the user to access their site and email again.
Check Status:
Ensure that the account status is now listed as active.
Notification: When you suspend an account, the user usually receives a notification that their account has been suspended. This can be configured in WHM or in the hosting control panel settings.
Billing and Suspension: Suspension can be useful for handling billing issues or other administrative tasks. You can include notes about why an account was suspended if needed.
Rechecking Services: After unsuspending an account, make sure that all services (e.g., email, website) are functioning correctly.
Automated Suspension: Some WHM installations may use automated scripts to handle suspensions for non-payment or other criteria. Check your WHM setup for any such features.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage account suspensions and restorations in WHM, ensuring proper access control and service management for your hosting environment.
Let’s talk about the future, and make it happen!
