In the digital age, where cyber threats can be seen, however, it is large, safeguarding sensitive information has become a matter of urgent importance both for individuals and organizations. Along with the growing number of web servers, and stations like WHM (Web Host Manager) and cPanel, it is essential to keep robust safety norms during the installation process. Implementing the security policy, and password strength of users is an important part of this security.
Passwords are the first protective wall against unauthorized access, and hence, it is our priority to define strict rules that ensure passwords are complex and strong enough. Using these simple words, one can keep all the details of the protected data behind a wide-open door, just waiting for any intrusion and eventual system failure.
This guide covers the value of requiring individuals who either log into WHM and cPanel or are in charge of these panels to get their passwords evaluated by an external source.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: First, log in to your cPanel account. If you don’t have a username and password, ask your hosting team. They will provide you with the necessary details.
Step 2: Now, at the top right corner of the page, you will find the user name. Click on it, as shown in the image below. After account preferences, you will find a Password and security option. Click on the same to secure your account.
Step 3: Once you click on the “Password & Security” options, you will notice the below page interface. Here, you can change your password. Why is strength important while setting your cPanel account password? You can click on the “Strength (Why?)” options to know more.
You can reset your password until password indicators turn green.
That’s all from cPanel. Let’s move on to WHM.
Step 1. Log in to your WHM account.
Step 2. Select the Security Center option from the navigation menu.
Step 3. Click on Configure Security Policies.
The Password Strength Configuration interface will appear..
Step 5. Check the Password strength. The actual required password strength is set at Password Strength Configuration.
Step 6. Click the Save button once you finish the configuration.
That’s it! WHM will apply the configurations for the password strength
