With WHM (Web Host Manager), you've got a tool that can handle multiple facets of your cPanel hosting service. One cool thing it does? It permits you to adjust feature lists. Think of a Feature List in WHM like a toolbox. It's where you store all the features that can be switched on or off for cPanel accounts. This means you get to decide which tools (or features) your users can use. It could be email, FTP, databases - whatever you choose!
1. Customize Services for Different Users: Tailor the features available to different types of users, such as resellers, basic hosting customers, or premium clients.
2. Control Resource Usage: Limit resource-intensive features like PostgreSQL databases or backups for certain accounts.
3. Simplify User Experience: Hide advanced or unused features to create a cleaner, more streamlined cPanel interface.
1. Access WHM by logging in with your root or reseller account credentials.
2. Navigate to your WHM dashboard.
1. In the WHM search bar, type "Feature Manager".
2. Click on "Feature Manager" under the Packages section. This is where you can create, edit, and manage feature lists.
1. You will see a field titled "Manage Feature List". From here, you can:
a) Edit an existing feature list: Use the dropdown to select the list you want to modify (e.g., default, reseller, or any custom feature list you have created).
b) Create a new feature list: If you want to create a new list, enter the desired name in the "Add a new feature list" field and click "Add".
1. Once you have selected or created the feature list, you will see a comprehensive list of available cPanel features with checkboxes.
a) Check the box to enable a feature.
b) Uncheck the box to disable a feature.
2. Example features include:
a) Email Accounts
b) MySQL Databases
c) Subdomains
d) FTP Account
e) SSL/TLS
f) Cron Jobs
g) Softaculous Apps Installer (if installed)
3. Review the feature list carefully, and check or uncheck the boxes according to the services you want to provide to your users.
1. After making your changes, scroll to the bottom and click "Save".
2. The feature list will be updated, and any cPanel accounts associated with that feature list will automatically inherit the changes.
To apply your feature list to a cPanel account, it must be assigned to a Package.
1. In WHM, go to Packages > Edit a Package.
2. Select the package you want to edit, then choose the appropriate feature list in the Feature List dropdown.
3. Save your changes.
You can create multiple feature lists and assign them to different packages. For example:
a) Basic Hosting Package: Limited features like email and file management.
b) Advanced Hosting Package: Includes databases, FTP, cron jobs, and other advanced features.
c) Reseller Feature List: Includes reseller-specific tools like Account Functions and Package Management.
Editing the feature list in WHM gives you complete control over what features are available to your cPanel users. By customizing feature lists, you can offer tailored hosting plans, simplify the user interface for basic accounts, and limit resource usage for specific users. Follow the steps above to easily edit, manage, and apply feature lists in WHM.
