In addition to WHM (Web Host Manager), adding a package is a basic thing that server administrators have to know if they want to be in the field of web hosting.
In WHM, the service level packages map the resources and features for each hosting account and are the basis for scaling and customization.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to add a package in WHM:
Step 1: Access WHM
Enter your administrator login information to access WHM. You most often type www.domain.com or your server IP into your browser's address bar and change domain.com to /whm to log in, for example, https://your-server-ip-or-domain/whm.
Step 2: Navigate to "Add a Package"
After logging in, you can notice the "Add a Package" menu within the WHM dashboard's interface. Usually, this is located in the "Packages" or "Account Functions" area. If you need to find the choice quickly, use the search bar.
Step 3: Enter Package Details
To continue, click "Add a Package." You will be asked to input the details for the new package in the screen that follows:
Package Name: Provide your packaging with an appealing title or name.
Resources: One of the critical factors to outline is the resources assigned to the package that involves space on the disk, bandwidth, CPU usage and memory.
Features: From the number of email accounts, databases, FTP accounts, and subdomains talk in the package, describe them.
Settings: Choose the place where you want to configure the package, such as the maximum email send limits or the number of allowed add-on domains.
Step 4: Save the Package
After entering the package details, click on the "Add" or "Save" button to create the package. WHM will then save the package configuration, making it available for use when creating or modifying hosting accounts.
Step 5: Verify Package Creation
Once the package is saved, verify that it appears in the list of available packages in WHM. You should see the package name listed along with its associated resources and features.
Step 6: Assign Package to Hosting Accounts (Optional)
If you're creating hosting accounts for clients or users, you can now assign the newly created package to their accounts. During the account creation process, you'll have the option to select the package from the list of available packages.
Step 7: Review and Modify Packages (Optional)
Review and adjust the current packages constantly while in use to meet changing requirements or increase efficiency. You can edit WHM packages to change resource allocations, include or exclude features, and update configurations in this regard.
By doing so, you will be able to add a package as needed in WHM and consequently adjust your hosting arrangements based on your changing space requirements. Efficient package management is the main conduit for maintaining smoothly running hosting accounts and providing an excellent hosting experience for users.
