How to Set Up Two-Step Authentication (2FA) in DirectAdmin

Step 1: Access the DirectAdmin Control Panel

1. First, find and click on your interne­t browser. Next, head straight to the­ DirectAdmin login page. 

2. Now, you're to put in your use­rname and password. You're in your control panel.

Step 2: Navigate to Two-Step Authentication Settings

1. Once logged in, click on Account Manager from the main dashboard.

2. Select Two-Step Authentication from the available options.

1. On the 2FA setup page, click on the Enable Two-Step Authentication button.

2. You will be presented with a QR code that you need to scan using an authentication app like Google Authenticator or Authy.

Step 4: Set Up Authentication App

1. Open your preferred authentication app on your mobile device.

2. You'll see­ an option to add a fresh account or scan a QR code. Choose it. 

3. We­'ll then need your de­vice to scan the QR code that's on the­ DirectAdmin 2FA setup page. Go ahe­ad. 

4. Once you've scanned it, the­ app will show you a 6-digit code. There it is!

Step 5: Verify and Activate 2FA

1. Enter the 6-digit code from the authentication app into the Verification Code field in DirectAdmin.

2. Click Verify to confirm the code.

3. If the code is correct, you will receive a confirmation message, and 2FA will be enabled on your DirectAdmin account.

Step 6: Save Backup Codes (Optional)

1. DirectAdmin will offer you a set of backup codes. These codes can be used to access your account if you lose access to your authentication app.

2. Save these codes in a secure location, such as a password manager or physical copy.

Step 7: Test Two-Step Authentication

1. Log out of your DirectAdmin account to test the new 2FA setup.

2. Once you've­ put in your username and password to sign back in, DirectAdmin pops up a re­quest for a 6-digit code. Your authentication app cre­ates this code.

3. Open the app, retrieve the code, and enter it to complete the login process.

Step 8: Disable 2FA (If Needed)

If you need to disable 2FA for any reason:

1. Go back to the Two-Step Authentication page under Account Manager.

2. Click the Disable Two-Step Authentication button.

3. Confirm the action, and 2FA will be removed from your account.
