Webuzo is an easy-to-use control panel that performs server management duties such as database management. One of the primary responsibilities is adding or developing a database user. It gives certain rights to manipulate databases. This step-by-step guideline helps you do this within the Webuzo environment.
Before creating a database user, you should log in to your Webuzo admin panel.
Open a web browser and make your way to the Webuzo panel URL.
Enter your username and password
Once logged in, you’ll see the Webuzo dashboard.
Navigate to the MySQL section.
Depending on the version of Webuzo you’re using, this section may be labeled as MySQL Manager or something similar.
Within the MySQL section, locate the Database Manager or phpMyAdmin option.
Click on it for database management interface access.
If you are directed to phpMyAdmin, log in using your MySQL credentials.
Enter the username and password.
Press Go or Enter.
On the left side, you will see the list of databases after you sign in.
By clicking its name, determine which database you want to add a user to.
Upon choosing the database, you’ll notice tabs at the top of the phpMyAdmin interface.
Click the "Privileges" option to manage database privileges.
Under the Privileges section, you’ll find an existing users list, if any.
Click "Add a new user."
A form will appear where you can enter the details of the new database user. Fill in the following information:
Username: Enter the desired username for the new database user.
Host: Specify the host from which the user can connect. For most cases, you can leave this as “localhost”.
Password: Set a secure password for the user. Use a strong password to boost security.
Re-type: Re-enter the password to confirm.
Global privileges: Choose what rights you wish a user to have. You can choose from options such as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, etc.
Database-specific privileges: It allows you to only offer privileges to some of the databases.
After entering the user details, scroll down to configure specific privileges for the user.
You can also issue CREATE, ALTER, DROP, and other privileges.
Select the box next to the corresponding privileges you want to allow the user.
After doing so, scroll down the page and click on a “Go” button or similar option to save the changes.
The next step is to check if the process was completed successfully by getting a confirmation message. It indicates that the new user was added with the appropriate privileges.
To check whether the new user has been created successfully, try to log in to the database by using the provided credentials.
Adding a user to the database in Webuzo is not a complex task and can be done either through the MySQL or phpMyAdmin interface. Using the instructions discussed here, you can easily create a new database user and give the corresponding access privileges so they can access and use the databases smoothly.
