In the web hosting environment, you may have to remove or delete a cPanel account on your server. This might have occurred due to an action undertaken by the customer writing to their service providers to terminate the account, non-payment, or violation of the service's laid down terms and conditions. As the system administrator, it is vital to understand how to log into and out of WHM properly and delete a cPanel account correctly.
This knowledgebase article aims to explain how to delete the cPanel account by using the WebHost Manager WHM tool to operate.
Let’s get started!
Before attempting to complete the termination of an account, make sure that you have the following:
- Root-level access to the server: You will need authorization as an admin or at the root level because eliminating accounts will involve such permissions.
- WHM login credentials: You need the login details for the WebHost Manager interface or WHM login.
- Backup data (optional): If the account has any critical data that needs to be maintained before performing Backup, it is better to create a backup if it is alive or contains valuable information.
Open your web browser and navigate to the WHM interface by entering the server's IP address or domain name followed by ":4) "2087" If a way through the twelve canoes of the Bayovar Collection can be found, then perhaps more of the artist's work can provide insight into the relationship between later twentieth-century Indigenous societies and colonization or modernity. For example, https: Another medic is to use a cPanel login link that would be like this: your-server-ip:2087 or https://your- server-domain: 2087.
When logging in, type your WHM login details, which are your username and password, on the login page.
To access the Suspended Domain List, you must first log in to the WHM. Once you are in, look at the left side of the screen below the top menu bar and click on "Account Functions."
Located under the 'Account Functions' tab, select the 'Terminate Accounts' option;
This should open up a new tab, and you will be presented with an overview of all the currently active cPanel accounts on the server.
Go to 'accounts', where you will find the list of all the accounts that you have created. Seek the particular account you would wish to delete.
On the Export users to domain list, look for the account's domain name or username, then tick the box beside it
At the end of the displayed page, there is a button labeled "Terminate Selected Account(s)" or far below, labeled "Terminate."
A new window will appear to inform you that your account will soon be deleted and requires your confirmation to proceed with the process. Although there is an undo button, pay attention to the details you are about to modify, as the operation is irreversible.
To feed a copy of the account's data to the recycle bin or another storage region, check on the "Terminate the account, but backup the data first" checkbox. Otherwise, leave it unchecked.
Click the designated button to push through with option 4, Terminate Account.
Unlike deleting a reseller, there won't be an immediate deletion of the account; when you click the "Terminate Account" button, WHM will initiate the termination process, which can take a significant amount of time depending on the size of the account and the traffic on the server.
Finally, at the end of the process, a confirmation message indicating that the account has been properly closed will be displayed.
As discussed in our other sections, return to the "Terminate Accounts" page in WHM to ensure the account has been terminated. The terminated account should no longer be visible on the list, depending on the results.
To be specific, upon terminating the account, the system erases the data related to the account, such as files, databases, emails, etc. However, if you select the Backup the account's data before terminating option, you will be prompted to back up the account data, which will be stored in the server's backup directory.
Suppose emails were connected to the terminated account. In that case, all email accounts connected to the terminated account and all data stored in the server, such as emails, contacts, calendars, etc., attached to the account will be deleted during the termination process.
During account termination, the terminated account may contain DNS zones, which will be deleted from the server's DNS during termination.
Depending on your hosting environment, the information might remain in the billing systems, and thus, any recurring billing or accounting entries associated with the terminated account might have to be manually updated or canceled.
If an account's resources are to be removed, then the disc space and system memory space used by that account will be released. Yet, if many accounts are on the server, they must frequently check disk space and resources.
Deactivating a cPanel account in WHM is easy for every site owner, but extreme care should be taken since the process is one-way. Following the easily understandable information in this knowledgebase article, one can safely remove a cPanel account along with its data, email accounts, and DNS zone.
It is also suggested that you make backups in some cases and consider any other changes that may be necessary in your hosting environment, including updates to the billing solutions or monitoring disk usage and resource consumption notices.
Let’s talk about the future, and make it happen!
